Please come by City Center November 2nd to learn more about Creative Care

Creative Clay, a treasured non-profit cultural arts center, runs seven programs, one of which is Creative Care. Creative Care enables professional artists-in-residence to work with patients, family and staff at All Children’s Hospital. The Creative Care program addresses the whole person within medical settings and forwards Creative Clay’s mission of making the arts accessible to all.  It is a great organization supported by one of our tenants, Perconti Data Systems, Inc.   www.creativeclay.org

Members of the community are invited to a reception November 2nd  from 4-7 pm at 100 2nd Avenue South, Suite 101S, Downtown St. Petersburg to meet the artists of Creative Care and learn more about the important works the non-profit organization is doing in local hospitals.  The event will include live art demonstrations, music, wine & hors d’oeuvres.

A hospital can be a daunting place for children. There is a way to shorten children’s time in the hospital, allow them to take fewer medications and enhance their quality of life while hospitalized. The arts can do all these things and are currently impacting the lives of children at All Children’s Hospital. A substantial body of research indicates the arts improve quality of life, support psychological healing, and promote peace and respite during a hospital stay. Time and time again patients, their families, artists and healthcare staff witness the transformation that takes place when hospitalized children are given the opportunity to paint, tell a story, create music or move their bodies. A withdrawn child becomes animated, expresses herself and beams with joy. The Arts show children that they are more than their medical diagnosis!

The organization’s grant from the National Endowment of the Arts is running out and they are looking for resources from the community that could be used to inspire patients. Donations and art supplies including photographs, drawings and writings would be helpful tools in individual and group sessions, which can help encourage patients to discover their own talents. Creative Care is helping transform healthcare and positively influencing the lives of children. They need your help to continue this important work.

Please consider helping  continue Creative Care’s mission by making a donation to the program.
